The new Manufacturing & Design Facility will be home to Great Country Timber Frames, a new sister company of The Barn Yard. Great Country Timber Frames will serve the growing custom timber frame home and commercial project market, as well as design & cut timber frames and timber components for The Barn Yard, other builders, & general contractors.
Over the years, the demand for The Barn Yard’s custom timber frame homes and commercial projects has grown so much, we saw the need for a new custom division. Great Country Timber Frames is the answer to this growing sector of timber frame custom projects.
Great Country Timber Frames will be marketed separately from The Barn Yard. The new company will cater to the timber frame home and large scale commercial project market, while The Barn Yard will remain the industry leader for sheds, garages, post & beam barns, and pavilions. It is for the client seeking high end custom design and large-scale vision that we created Great Country Timber Frames.
The new Manufacturing & Design Facility on Village St. in Ellington (that The Barn Yard is currently building) will be home to Great Country Timber Frames. The building will house a state of the art CNC machine capable of cutting timbers to the hundredth of an inch for use in post & beam barns and timber frame homes. There will also be bays dedicated just to building wall panels at Great Country Timber Frames. The Barn Yard will be one of Great Country Timber Frames’ biggest clients, needing more and more timbers for post & beam barns and wall panels for custom garages every year. Great Country Timber Frames will also design & cut timber frames and timber components for other builders & general contractors.
The building will also house the design and marketing staff for both Great Country Timber Frames and The Barn Yard. The current location of The Barn Yard on Route 83 in Ellington will stay open as a sales-only showcase location, just like The Barn Yard’s Bethel showcase location.
Timber frame buildings can be 100% timber frame, including the structure of the building and insulated with SIP panels, or conventionally framed buildings with timber frame accents only. Great Country Timber Frames is not limited just to timber framing. If a client has a vision for a conventionally framed home with just a few rustic beams added for look, Great Country Timber Frames is still a perfect fit.
Great Country Timber Frames will be run by the Skinner family, just like The Barn Yard. As such, they bring their experience, attention to detail, and customer-first mentality to the custom home market. The new company will serve all of New England for building & design, and all of America for shipping timber frame kits.
It is our goal to better serve the custom home & commercial project market with Great Country Timber Frames.
