Custom Barn Garage Before & After

With design inspired by the Moulton Barn in Grand Teton National Part, we built this motorcycle garage originally with open overhangs on either side. When the customer needed more room, we were again on site to enclose the overhangs.

Let’s start at the beginning. As you’re well aware, we find much inspiration in the Rocky Mountain west. Be it the big sky, wide open spaces, or western architecture, it’s all good material to inspire a design.

Ask anyone and they’ve most likely seen a picture of the Moulton Barn in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Many may have even seen it in person. That’s because it’s the most photographed barn in America. As a result, this barn has become one of the first things people think of when they imagine a classic western barn. Seemed like the perfect starting point for a custom barn we were building in Southbury, CT.

Our original inspired design for the custom barn (that would later become a motorcycle garage) had four open overhangs for tractors and classic cars. After the barn was built, the owner needed more room, so we proposed a design to enclose the overhangs, creating more space inside but not increasing the building’s footprint.

The result is a barn that harkens back to the iconic Moulton Barn even more than it originally did. Only this barn has modern features, construction, and automatic garage doors.
