The Elks Lodge is a hybrid design utilizing framing elements of concrete, steel, conventional wood, and timber frame construction. The Barn Yard is your one stop design/build contractor for any light commercial project. It’s exciting to watch the Elks Lodge take shape and become more and more like the design.
Elks Lodge Facts
The wall facing the pond in the cathedral ceiling portion is balloon framed. This is done for rigidity in order to remove the “hinge point” of a gable wall with split top plates. In addition, the wall is framed with 2x6 engineered lumber with wall studs continuous 26' in length.
There are (3) timber frame arched gable accents. These feature a bottom chord that is carefully scribed to a radius to match the arched window below. Complete with mortise & tenon joinery, oak pegs and custom curved support brackets. Concealed steel rods ensure a strong connection.
This Elks Lodge is to include a full custom bar with 16 stools, large area for group events, fire place, commercial kitchen, and a 1,000 square foot deck overlooking pond!
In the next blog post about the Elks Lodge, you will see the custom front Timber Frame portico entrance designed by The Barn Yard. It will be impressive!
